Polymer dynamics at surfaces and in complex environments

How do polymers diffuse along the solid-liquid interface and in confined geometries? Even though many Great names based theories—Rouse, Zimm, Dio, Edwards, de Gennes, as well as numerous techniques—light scattering, neutron and X-ray scattering have been developed, polymer diffusion is still a central problem of polymer physics. So many variables involve in this areas, while it still at an early stage in agreeing on the unifying general principles. We will study this by novel experimental platforms of fluorescence spectroscopy, in order to find the relationships between polymer translational diffusion with chain length, polymer surface coverage, and in the case of confined polymer melts, on film thickness.

Something about me

My friends favorably call me Big Fish, because my family name Yu is the same pronunciation with Fish in Chinese. Last two years, I began engaged in scientific research, and still liked a baby. I have been Urbana-Champaign for two weeks, and nearly visited most of Chinese restaurants around the campus. Now, our kitchen is already functionalized, and we are trying to cook delicious food in order to invite our friends.

I love watching naive cartoon, such as SpongeBob, since no complicated scenario involves in and I can shut down the running of my head in principles. I am not talent in some special subjects, but if you want to play football, ping pong, badminton, chesses, Sanguosha et al, please ask me to join.

Motto

One of the principal objects of research in my department of knowledge is to find the point of view from which the subject appears in the greatest simplicity. -- J Willard Gibbs
