
Shu-Jung Tang got bachelor of science degree in Tamkang University in 1993. From 1993 to 1995 he served in the army as a soldier. In the summer of 1995, one month after he retired from the army, he went to the University of Tennessee to go for the master degree of Physics. He got the teaching assistantship in the second semester and he passed Ph.D Qualified exams with high mark (top 3 among 25 ) in the second year. He won the full-time research assistantship from Dr. Ward Plummer and start his Ph.D research in CAMD, Louisiana in 1997. After 5 years hard work doing photoemission study of the simple metal thin film and surface in CAMD, He got his Ph.D degree in the end of 2002. He then got 3-year appointment of the position as a postdoctoral research associate in the T-.C. Chiang's group in the physics department and material research laboratory (MRL) of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
