Dom Ricci is a doctoral student working under Prof. Tai-Chang Chiang in the Department of Physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the area of experimental condensed matter physics. A 1999 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a B.S. in physics, his research concerns the physical and electronic structures of nanoscale surface systems and specifically focuses upon the study of metal on semiconductor systems with photoemission spectroscopy.

In addition to his research, Dom has been an active participant in departmental and campus affairs. He helmed the Graduate Student Advisory Council in the Department of Physics and co-founded its successor organization, the Physics Graduate Student Association. In these roles he has coordinated physics graduate student participation in events such as the prospective recruitment weekends and the organization of the annual Physical Revue. Additionally, he served as a departmental representative to the Graduate College's campus-wide GSAC from 2001 until its dissolution in 2003. Dom also is the graduate advisor to the Illinois Academic Buzzer Team.
